1.8 million trees are harvested by olive presses in Tabuk

RIYADH: The harvest from over 1.8 million olive

trees, which produces 94,000 tonnes of olives and

more than 12,250 tonnes of olive oil, is presently

being processed by olive presses in the Tabuk region.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the main

types of olives include Arbequina, Arbosana,

 Nabili, and Souri.

Because of its topography and closeness to a

Mediterranean climate, the Tabuk region is

one of the most crucial places in the Kingdom

for growing variety of crops.

Apart from olive oil, the area is renowned for

 its grapes, apricots, peaches, strawberries,

mangoes, oranges, and mandarins. A number

of these fruits are grown with an emphasis on

 quality rather than quantity.

In Saudi Arabia, agriculture is a vital

economic sector that supports both exports

 and self-sufficiency.

By giving farmers access to easy loans,

 agricultural equipment, pumps, and other

 necessary supplies, the government has

demonstrated its commitment to this industry.

The Ministry of Environment, Water,

 and Agriculture's regional office assists

farmers by promoting the application

 of cutting-edge farming technologies and

providing expert advice to optimize yields.

Additionally, it plans harvest-season

 agricultural celebrations in cities,

 governorates, and other regional hubs.

The Olive Festival is the area's most

 important seasonal event, giving

 producers crucial platform

 to market their olive derivatives

and products.

In order to help the farming community

and promote regional produce, it is staged

in conjunction with other events across

 the region.
