The National Center for Palms and Dates and the Museums Commission sign a contract.
RIYADH: On Thursday, at the International Dates
Conference and Exhibition at the Roshan Front
in Riyadh, the Saudi Museums Commission and
the National Center for Palms and Dates signed
an agreement of collaboration.
The MoU, which was signed by
Dr. Mohammed Al-Nuwairan, the center's CEO,
and Khaled Baasiri, the commission's director
general of partnerships and business development,
intends to strengthen intergovernmental
cooperation and promote the Kingdom's cultural
and historical identity in order to meet the strategic
goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
In an attempt to create successful cooperation
between the two parties, it seeks to utilize shared
capabilities and knowledge to grow the palm and
dates industry, improve its cultural value,
and support the national economy.
The agreement was made as part of the two
organizations' attempts to give the community
a more stimulating cultural, educational,
and tourism environment. According
to Al-Nuwairan, the cooperation
sought to accomplish important objectives
that benefited both sectors equally.
"With this collaboration, we hope to enhance dates'
cultural legacy and worth on a worldwide scale
and generate a viable revenue stream," he stated.
According to Al-Nuwairan, a precise procedure
had been decided upon in consultation with
the commission.
This involved creating interactive workshops and
cultural and educational programs within schools
and museums to teach the public and students
about the phases of palm agriculture,
date processing, and their connection to the
Kingdom's environmental legacy.
According to Baasiri, the commission was creating
integrated cultural pathways that would include
historical farm visits, the creation of a palm tree
and date museum, and displays that chronicled
the history of palm trees and dates in the Kingdom. "Dates and palm trees are very significant in our Arab
culture because they are a sign of generosity and
genuineness. Because of this, they are a crucial part
of the museum story, whether in public or specialist
museums," he stated.
In order to diversify cultural presentation methods
and develop smart display techniques that helped
achieve shared strategic goals, Baasiri stated that
the commission would seek to increase collaboration
with intersecting government agencies and learn
about community preferences from various parties.
The action is a step toward making museums
essential institutions that protect cultural heritage
and exhibit it in ways that help both domestic and
foreign tourists become more knowledgeable and
conscious.
